General information:

Dendritic agate is also called arborized agate, Mocha stone or even herborized agate. It is a translucent colorless or gray/brown chalcedony with figures that evoke trees or ferns. Not being banded, its name “agate” is incorrect. “Dentrites” are precipitations of iron and manganese, dark brown to black. It forms in the smallest cracks by crystallization of solutions resulting from the degradation of neighboring minerals. These ornamental stones are also called Mocha stone because they once passed through the Yemeni port of Mocha when exported from India to Europe.
